Label inspection
Task
When filling test serums, labels are stuck onto the bottles (known as vials). The labels are printed with a shelf life date, the batch number, certain symbols and a data matrix code. This imprint should be read, verified or checked for presence and quality using machine vision before labelling takes place. Implementation The functions for reliable reading and verification of codes and texts are included in the basic software for Cognex In-Sight systems. As multiple lines need to be fitted and the system is intended to represent a factory standard in the future, great emphasis is placed on free configurability and ease of operation. The entire inspection unit consists of a configuration PC in VA housing, an In-Sight system with the inspection software and the appropriate lighting. Customer benefits This inspection fully meets customer requirements for verification of the critical data. Costly incorrect labelling of vials for medical diagnosis is effectively prevented. New checks or changes to existing verification specifications can be implemented without the need for time-consuming and cost-intensive developments. |
