In production of electronic display components, the correct functioning of LCD displays needs to be monitored. To do this, various test images are displayed, which are then checked for completeness by a machine vision system.
This task calls for a system with an easy teach-in function, which can be controlled from the host computer at the test station. In this application, the inspection sequences are selected using digital I/Os. For teaching in, the relevant control image is captured and the segments are determined automatically. To ensure that the position of the test specimens is adjusted in the software, pattern matching is carried out. The activated display symbols are automatically inspected with reflected light or with the integrated backlighting.
The easy-to-operate system enables short circuits or interruptions in the display actuation to be identified and the function of the segments themselves to be tested. This prevents delivery of defective parts and therefore customer complaints.
