In the manufacture of wound plasters, the products are inspected in various production states using line scan cameras. The inspection is carried out on the web material or cut goods at a transport speed of up to 60m/min with usually up to 450mm web width. Typical camera resolutions are 0.05 to 0.1mm/pixel. The calculation of the machine vision with the result good/bad or position information is done on high performance computers. Bad products are rejected by the machine control. The wound plasters consist of several components. Usually these are:

  • Carrier material with adhesive layer on the body side ("dressing")
  • Wound pad for absorption of secretions (if necessary also from several layers = wound pad with wound pad)
  • Release liner for covering the adhesive layer (removed for use)
  • Sealed pouches for sterile packaging

Another variant for burns consists of a net-like gauze structure with a vaseline layer. Here, the net structure is checked for defects and tested for foreign bodies from 0.3mm.
