In the production of plastic sealing rings, under- or over-injection ("floating skin") cannot be ruled out. With the produced quantity of more than 5,000 pieces/h, manual control is expensive and a safe sorting out of NIO parts cannot be excluded. To avoid this, an machine vision system is used.

After injection moulding, the parts are placed on an opaque transparent belt which is automatically cleaned so that no contamination occurs which could lead to malfunctions in the image processing. The CV-600 machine vision system processes two independent tracks, each with one camera in transmitted light. With a diameter of the sealing rings of approx. 60mm, errors on the contour of 0.05mm ellipse deviation and 0.3mm length can be reliably detected.
