Bent or twisted contacts often occur during the automatic assembly of contacts on an assembly line. These should be detected and sorted out after assembly. An In-Sight system is used to measure the position of the pins. A LED incident light illumination provides good contrast of the pin tips. Robust algorithms for edge detection are used for the measurement. The free configurability of the system with programmable formulas is an advantage for the evaluation. Not only can simple distance measurements be carried out, but the pin positions are also additionally evaluated at a distance from the calculated regression line. The accuracy of the measurement meets customer requirements and is ±0.02mm.
