In aseptic filling, the tray is a silent quality driver: a missing vial or a half-filled tray may seem insignificant, but it can quickly lead to downtime, rework and unnecessary documentation effort.
What a camera-based completeness check in the tray typically ensures:
- Occupancy per cavity: full / missing
- Position logic: correct arrangement, complete filling
- Plausibility checks: e.g. target/actual comparison per tray, per batch, per line
- Documentation: traceable test results as a database for reviews and audits
OCTUM has had solutions for this since 2016.
At that time, the focus was on single-colour crimp caps. Since 2020, we have also been reliably inspecting coloured crimp caps using a colour image camera – particularly relevant when variants, formats or colour coding are involved.
